M-DTS Hike & Meeting: Sat Sep 9

The next hike and board meeting of the Mason-Dixon Trail System will be on Saturday, Sep 9th. We will start by hiking in the Hellam Hills Nature Preserve at 9am (please arrive by 8:45am). The hike will start from 1300 Chimney Rock Rd where it intersects Furnace Rd (Lat/Lon: 40.038494, -76.606850). There will be a 2 mi. loop hike up to Buzzards Roost and back and if there's enough interest a 4 mi. shuttle hike on the new reroute of the M-DT up to Buzzards Roost, down the other side and then along Wildcat Run to River Dr. The 4 mi. hike will require shuttling cars to the end beforehand. The climb to Buzzards Roost includes a 170' climb in 1/4 mi.

Bring snacks and water. Head-in parking along Chimney Rock Road is limited so carpool if you can.

The meeting will start 1 pm at the pavilion in Riverfront Park, across from 338 S Front St., Wrightsville, PA (Lat/Lon:40.023428, -76.526042). The pavilion is 100 yards south/downriver from the parking lot. Everyone is welcome to both events!
