When using our 'Contact Us' or 'Report Trail Issues' forms on our site, as appropriate, you will be asked to enter your name, email address and/or other details to facilitate submitting these forms. Your IP Address is obtained from your location and is also submitted with these applications. Your IP Address is also collected when using our 'Opinion Polls' application. It prevents users from voting more than once in an opinion poll.
When do we collect information?
We collect this information from you when the 'Contact Us' or 'Report Trail Issues' form data is sent to an authorized member of The Mason-Dixon Trail System.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you request information about our organization or report a trail issue to effectively respond to your request. We also collect your IP Address so that, in the event of a spam attack, we can block that IP Address from submitting to our site.
How do we protect visitor information?
Requester information is only kept by the receiving member until a response is made to that request. It is not stored anywhere on this site. Trail conditions submitted by users may be posted on this site. However, we do not post any personal information about the user. No Mason-Dixon Trail System member information is stored on this web site. The online newsletters posted on this web site from 2011 on do not contain any meeting minutes, which could potentially contain PII. Some of our early newsletters between 1979 and 2011 were nothing more than meeting minutes. So, in order to show them we have redacted the names of those outside of this organization. We have also redacted any addresses or phone numbers of members and removed any sign up sheets that were part of these early meetings.
We do not use an SSL certificate because all Mason-Dixon Trail System Store sales are handled by a third party web site or by conventional 'snail mail'.
We do not use cookies for tracking purposes. Some of our partners that have linked code on this site, such as Google Search and Google Analytics, may send cookies for various purposes. Please consult their privacy policies for details.
