One could get to Carlisle, PA and hike 14 miles south on the AT to the M-DT, though no known public transportation is available to Carlisle. Uber runs from Harrisburg, PA to Carlisle, PA.   And one could take a train to Harpers Ferry, WV, then hike the AT 92 miles north to the M-DT.
